Who is SJJA?

Promoting the spirit of ju-jitsu as a sport and martial arts in Singapore and beyond

The Singapore Ju-Jitsu Association (SJJA) is the official National Sports Association (NSA) for ju-jitsu in Singapore. Established in 1999 as a non-profit organisation, we are dedicated to developing and supporting all five disciplines of ju-jitsu, from beginners to elite competitors.

Ju-jitsu originated from samurai martial traditions and blends grappling, throwing, and striking techniques into a versatile martial art.

As members of the Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF) and Ju-Jitsu Asian Union (JJAU), we represent Singapore in international competitions and actively contribute to the growth of ju-jitsu locally and internationally.

The five disciplines of competition ju-jitsu:
Newaza (Jiu-Jitsu): Ground grappling, focusing on submissions and positional control without striking.
Fighting System: A comprehensive discipline combining striking, throwing, and grappling skills in three phases.
Contact: A full-contact format emphasising striking techniques and takedowns, utilising protective gear for realistic combat scenarios.
Duo: A choreographed self-defence demonstration by two practitioners, judged on accuracy and technique execution.
Show: A creative and artistic discipline showcasing choreographed routines, acrobatic moves, and expressive performances.
